The Bookworms Behind Literary Blooms

Hello Fellow Bookworms!

Welcome to the Literary Blooms blog! A place for book reviews, book recommendations, author chats, and all things literary from the ladies behind your favorite bookish flowers.

If you are new to Literary Blooms, let us introduce ourselves!

We are Cherish and Lacy, mother/daughter business partners and lifelong bookworms. In 2017, in the midst of planning for Lacy's wedding we asked the question that every bride inevitably asks... What about flowers? Lacy wanted something beautiful, unique, and long lasting that represented her and her now husband, Josh.

Enter book flowers!

As a book seller by trade, Cherish had a plethora of damaged and unusable books that we could practice on. After much trial and error... We mastered our flower design!

We spent months creating flowers for the tables, the bouquets, boutonnières, and decor. The wedding was a huge success with an outpouring of love for our bookish flowers. We are both crafty ladies who have a hard time sitting with idle hands... So, we decided to take a big leap and start our own business!

Literary Blooms has become such an important part of our lives over the last four years. Our small business has been featured in huge publications such as Forbes and Readers Digest. But the greatest reward has been seeing our bookish creations touch so many lives of bibliophiles like ourselves!

We hope this blog will be a place where you can get to know us and we can get to know you! We have a lot of fun things planned and look forward to sharing our love for literature with you!

Here are Ten Bookish Questions to get to know us better as readers!

1) What is your favorite book?

Cherish - Oh boy! This is such a tough question. I've read so many great books it is almost impossible to choose. But if I have to pick just one, I will always pick Lonesome Dove.

Lacy - Can you really choose just one?! If I had to pick one book it would by The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly. It is the only book in my adult life that I have re-read... And listened to once as an audiobook!

2) What is your favorite genre?

Cherish - I love Historical Fiction and Mystery/Thrillers.

Lacy - My go to genre is definitely Mystery/Thriller but I love a Whimsical/Coming of Age story too!

3) Who is your favorite author?

Cherish - This is a lot like Question 1... Currently my favorite, can do no wrong author is Louise Penny.

Lacy - I really can't choose just one! My current favorite... If I HAD to choose would probably be Gillian Flynn.

4) Paperback or Hardcover books?

Cherish - Hardcover

Lacy - Hardcover

5) Series or stand alone stories?

Cherish - Both! I'm always hesitant to start a new series because I hate getting sucked into books with no real endings. However, when I breakdown and start one, if it's great I am so excited to have a guaranteed read every year. Currently I read the Inspector Gamache series by Louise Penny and the Ruth Galloway series by Elly Griffiths.

Lacy - I definitely read more stand alone stories than I do series, though I have read some wonderful series over the last few years! The Crimson Lake trilogy is one of my favorites!

6) What is your favorite book to movie adaptation?

Cherish - Does Lonesome Dove count as a movie even though it was a TV mini-series? If not, then I choose Jaws! Oh, and The Godfather.

Lacy - Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn is masterful!

7) Who are your auto-buy authors?

Cherish - Louise Penny, Elly Griffiths, Stephen King, Kate Morton, Diane Chamberlain, Kimberly McCreight, Karin Slaughter, Laura Lippman, Charlaine Harris, Jennifer McMahon... I think that's it!

Lacy - Gillian Flynn, Blake Crouch, Fredrik Backman, Riley Sager, Diane Setterfield, TJ Klune, and Liane Moriarty!

8) What are your top five favorite books this year?

Cherish - Billy Summers by Stephen King, The Madness of Crowds by Louise Penny, The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune, False Witness by Karin Slaughter and The Stone Circle by Elly Griffiths.

Lacy - The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab, The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave, Lock Every Door by Riley Sager, The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins, and number one for this year is easily The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune.

9) How do you choose your next read?

Cherish - I do all the above authors on preorder. So when I get the package in the mail, I know what I'm reading next! Also, LOVE getting book recommendations from family and friends.

Lacy - Honestly, I will read anything my mom recommends to me! She's usually right about my tastes! I've also gotten very into BookTok on Tiktok and have found a lot of great recommendations from there! I have a Book of the Month subscription and have discovered so many wonderful new authors from there. Getting new book mail every month is my favorite thing!
